GOOGLE SEARCH IN AMHARIC WITH THE FREE ONLINE GEEZEDIT

GeezEdit Typing Online is an incredibly simple application to use due to innovative two-key stroke technology. Patent pending technology allows the user to use a maximum of two keystrokes to type any letter in the Ethiopic alphabet. GeezEdit Typing Online allows the user to save time and type any Ethiopic character, numeral, symbol or tonal mark with two keystrokes at most. This free application is to edit, save, and print anything in Amharic, the national language of Ethiopia. In the past it was advised to type the Amharic words and paste them in Google to search in Amharic. The current announcement is about the addition of Google search in Amharic to the free typing GeezEdit page.

ABSHA is a company that was established in 1982 by Dr. Aberra Molla and his wife, Senait Ketema. ABSHA/ECS of Colorado pioneered the computerization of Ethiopic. ModEth, an Ethiopic word processor for DOS, was released in 1987. Prior to Ethiopic computerization by Dr. Aberra the alphabet was typeset only in the printing presses or written manually. The focus of the current rendering technology known as ABSHA system has been the typing of each of the more than 563 Ethiopic glyphs with one or two keystrokes, somewhat similar to typing in English on computers

Google search in Amharic is very simple with the commercial GeezEdit 2.0. However, this current news release is about the addition of Google search in Amharic to the free page. To search in Amharic one clicks on “Search” in the menu and for the first time type in the Amharic alphabet in the search box. Clicking on “Search” brings up Amharic documents recognized by Google and the documents appear in the Amharic alphabet. If the user is interested in Google English “Search”, then “Alphabet” menu is clicked and “Latin” is selected. Typing in the Google box gives “English” words and the “Search” will be in English. It is also possible to type some words in Amharic and some in English and search in more than one language alphabet.

በሚሸጠው ግዕዝኤዲት በግዕዝ መፈለግ ኣስቸጋሪ ኣይደለም። ነፃው የግዕዝኤዲት ገጽ ውስጥ ግን በኣዲሱ የጉግል መፈለጊያ ለመጠቀም “Search” የሚለውን በመጫን የጉግል መፈለጊያ ሳጥን ይወጣል። መስመሩ ውስጥ በተለመደው የግዕዝኤዲት ኣከታተብ መጠቀም ዓማርኛውን ያስከትባል። ከእዚያም ከቀኝ የሚገኘውን “Search” መጫን ጉግል የሚያውቃቸውን የዓማርኛ ጽሑፎች ዝርዝር ያስቀርባል። የሚፈለገውን መርጦ መጫን ጽሑፉን ይከፍታል። በጉግል ግዕዝኤዲት ገጽ ውስጥ በእንግሊዝኛ ለመፈለግ “Alphabet/ፊደል” ከእዚያም “Latin/ላቲን” የሚለውን መርጦ መጫን የሚፈለገውን ቃል ወይም ቃላት ሳጥኑ ውስጥ በእንግሊዝኛ የማስከተብና መፈለግ ምርጫ ይሰጣል። አማርኛ እና እንግሊዝኛም በመቀላቀል በሁለቱም ቋንቋዎች በኣንዴ መፈለግ ይቻላል።
