"Medical helicopters within Arizona provide a vital service for many patients. However, numerous patients are being transported by helicopter that could have been transported just as easily by ground ambulance. More than 40% of trauma patients transported by helicopter in Arizona were discharged from the emergency room within 24 hours," said Dr. Salvino, an emergency room physician.

"AHCCCS was charged $128 million for helicopter transports in 2008. We need to study how to drive down these costs and save the taxpayer money while still providing the best medical care in the world. I am passionate about improving healthcare and driving down costs, it's why I authored my HELP Plan and will be a top priority of mine in Congress," concluded Salvino.
