Goscor Launches New Crown Cold Store Cabin Reach Truck

They also need a truck that doesn’t break down in extreme conditions – a truck that’s been optimised for the deep freeze,” he says. With the launch of the ESR 5000 Cold Store Cab, Crown builds on it world famous ESR 5000 reach truck’s class-leading reliability, durability and performance.

Totally integrated with the truck, every cabin features huge heated windows with wipers front and back to give unprecedented visibility in all directions – even upwards. The airtight windows, coupled with electronically controlled twin heaters and five adjustable air vents, mean that the cabin interior is always warm and comfortable. Anticipating the unexpected hazards that lurk in a cold store, the rugged cabin is constructed from profiled tubular steel and an extended roof provides further component protection.
Bringing drivers in from the cold...

A warm, spacious, comfortable cabin is one thing – but what about access? Like a car door, the door fitted to the ESR 5000 Cold Store Cabin is front-hinged for convenience, so operators can swing easily in and out. A wide step helps keep footing secure. Carefully designed details like this, coupled with other standard features such as the adjustable steering column, nested door heater, spacious desktop with clipboard, 360° visibility and a variety of options mean that working in a Cold Store Cabin truck is just as productive as working in normal conditions.
Keeping the truck protected...
The new truck’s chassis weld seams and studs are coated with a special wax-based anti-corrosion compound. Exposed electrical connections are covered with silicon sealant, and critical components are fitted with their own thermostatically controlled heaters. The motor compartment is protected by extra layers of paint and a heavy coat of clear varnish. And by using specially formulated hydraulic oil and coating all moving parts in low-temperature grease, Crown has made sure that the truck’s performance remains high even when temperatures are low.

Shafto says that the ESR 5000 Cold Store Cabin is a breakthrough for the South African market. “We now have a state of the art machine for very cold environments with the comfort and reliability of an award-winning, world famous Crown machine,” he concluded.
