Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) September 21, 2010 -- (SAN PEDRO, CA) The Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) is pleased to announce that acclaimed singer Windy Barnes Farrell will kick off their 2010-2011 season with a unique performance at Hope Chapel on October 9, 2010. The elegant chanteuse, who slides easily between gospel, R&B, pop and jazz, will be joined by friends at the newly renovated 400-seat Hope Chapel at 461 W. 9th Street, San Pedro, CA. The concert starts at 8:00 PM (doors open at 7:30 PM).

Windy Barnes Farrell, who is a San Pedro resident, has toured the world with Stevie Wonder as well as with Julio Iglesias, who considers her voice “one of the most beautiful voices in America…Windy sings like heaven.” She has also performed with Michael Bolton and is one of most sought-after interpreters of popular song.

“We’re so pleased that the GSPO has chosen to open their season here,” said Hope Chapel’s Pastor Dan Brown. “After spending the last ten years renovating our space I can’t think of a better artist with which to bless ‘the house!’” Hope Chapel located in what used to be a car dealership, a bakery and the San Pedro Bowl, joins Alva’s on Eighth Street as additional venues for GSPO concerts this season. Alva’s will host GSPO’s Chamber Series concert, “Silent Voices” on February 27th 2011.

“These partnerships, beyond the already active Sixth Street corridor, made total sense to us,” said Steven Allen Fox, the Founding CEO, Artistic Director and Conductor of the GSPO. “The locations and the programming are very well-matched. But it was also a conscious attempt to solidify San Pedro’s reputation as an eclectic arts destination.”
