The government has recently announced that homeowners could benefit from low interest loans to help pay for energy saving measures such as solar panels. Under the scheme, homeowners would be able to take out longterm loans for the installation of solar panels. What is different about this scheme is that the loan would stay with the house and not with the person taking out the loan.
The government wants to see all home's greener. The plan would be that the interest on the loans would be less than the energy savings, meaning that there is a financial incentive for installing solar energy. On average people stay in their homes for 8/9 years. At present solar energy should pay for itself in about 10 years. This is great news for anybody considering a solar installation. Next year the government will also be introducing feed in tariffs for solar hot water systems under the renewal heat incentive plan. This will enable homeowners to receive a stable income for the next 25 years and should mean much more predictability when it comes to installing solar thermal (hot water).
So there it is, the government through a series of measures has given the solar energy industry a much needed boost. This coupled with grants for solar power, means that investing in solar has become a very attractive option.
wayne morris of the big green company says commented "the solar industry in the last few months has recieved a series of financial incentives that will lead to an expansion of the industry. this is not only good for homeowners, but also for the thousands of green jobs that will be created".
