Congress today passed legislature that will kick into effect within the next 120 days mandating that airlines do not let any passenger jetliners sit in the tarmac for more than 3 hours without penalties and/or fines for the carriers. This piece of legislations comes amidst reports that some passengers earlier this year were left overnight inside a plane with no food, limited water and unhealthy lavatories.
The new legislation calls for airlines “to provide food and water for passenger within 2 hours of a plane being delayed in a tarmac, and maintain reasonable lavatories”.
Universal Action Travel representatives which book hundreds of vacations a year said “This piece of legislation should put those nervous to travel a bit more at ease. Hopefully the not so friendly skies might become a bit friendlier for the traveler.
