There is no doubt that fashion is a result of symbols between teens and more. By this I mean the incidence that certain facts in history and that materialize in the graduation dresses garments. So the dress has its own way to conceive, organize and express reality, this is done through symbols, operating as a symbolic form capable of creating meaning.
True identity
It a very general way, when looking onto relations through the centuries XVIII, XIX, XX and XXI, we can note many differences. In XVIII clothing concealed the true identity, this was established as a cover away from the private life (the testimony of this is shown with only observing the morphology of those dresses) in the next century this changes, the development of big cities gives to dress the responsibility to disclose the true identity. The twentieth century has this relationship stating the claim of identity through the clothes, down to our century where there is no identity and to reveal, conceal or claim they make.
Concepts
The concept of identity I address in this work must be understood as a process of constant preparation. To this we must accept that we are not talking about a stable identity, unique, unchanging, for the paradigm of identity ditto, but an identity constantly changing, fragmented protein, which corresponds to the figure of the palimpsest or Proteus, as Bauman would say. This palimpsest identity or protein, responds to the paradigm of identity raised by Ricoeur ipse, namely the self as other. The identity to which I refer here not defined substantially, not prior to the person, but constantly being built and incorporates otherness.
Considering identity as a constant attempt to the paradigm of producing graduation dresses for teenagers or another garment gives me the keys to understanding this contemporary identity as a process of cutting and sewing. We make our identity from the dress, a fact that is not merely visual and less superficial. The clothes on our body manufactures a fragile and provisional identity, which is due to the very nature they have the clothes.
Materials
As a means that is printed on the identity graduation dresses making process similar characteristics to its materiality! Such as: easily replaceable, soft, fragile, washable, provisional, denser networks or sparse, or permeable waterproof, etc.. Play with the options offered by clothing is a way to build a discourse on the body and from the body to the other. Allowing us to observe the first territory of contemporary identity, the body which is in a dialectical relationship with his second place, culture, including clothing operates as a hinge.
