Grammy Award Winner Patti Austin Announces Availability of her new Audio Book “Self-Defense for Women”, supporting the Fight against Domestic Violence

San Francisco, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) October 26, 2010 -- LOS ANGELES, CA October 26, 2010 – Grammy award winner Patti Austin is pleased to announce the availability of her brand new audio book, “Self Defense for Women.” The audio book offers women practical advice on how to stay safe and out of harm’s way through confrontation diffusion, survival tactics, physical and nonphysical techniques and self-defense classes.

Domestic violence claims over 1.3 million victims every year. These statistics do not include un-reported domestic violence crimes that some groups believe could double the number of transgressions. Many do not report these crimes for fear of retribution, embarrassment or a whole host of other reasons.

“Domestic violence has no place in a civilized society,” says Ms. Austin. “If we are to evolve as a society, we need to put an end to these violent behaviors. They claim innocent victims who cannot or will not defend themselves. We also need to provide a safe haven for victims so that they may report these crimes without fear of retribution.”

The new audio book “Self Defense for Women” will include a bonus CD track called “By the Grace of God.” This song was written and performed by Patti Austin after she watched a program aired on Oprah about Carolyn Thomas, a severely disfigured domestic violence victim.
