Bhagwan Rampure, winner of the Maharashtra state award for sculpting (1997) is known for more reasons than one. The bronze sculpture of the stock exchange bull installed at the entrance of the Bombay Stock Exchange was made by this acclaimed sculptor. No sooner that it was established, in January 2008 Sensex began its downward journey and brokers and traders became impulsive blaming the inanimate object for its fall from 20,000 to about 8,000. The sculptor was enraged when they started asking for the removal of the object and asked the authorities to remove it if they wanted to. However, after consulting a vastu expert, they gave up the idea of removing it and instead shifted it. It’s been a long journey since then and a beautiful one that too. Restoring the beautiful culture of the country, Bhagwan Rampure has revolutionized the way sculptors are looked at in the country.
