FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 20, 2010 --
What: Great Lakes Electronics Corporation (GLEC), an electronics recycling company, will host its annual “Earth Day” consumer electronics recycling drive by collecting electronic waste (eWaste) free of charge at its Warren facility on Saturday, April 24th from 10:00 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The company will collect and dispose of eWaste such as old and unwanted consumer electronics which has rapidly become one of the nation’s most significant environmental problems. Items collected will include: computers, monitors, printers, cell phones, televisions, VCRs, video game consoles, and other small electronics and household appliances (under 100 lbs.) Refrigerators and air conditioning units will not be accepted.
“eWaste is an enormous and growing environmental problem so this is a great opportunity for some spring cleaning” said Nathan Zack, founder, CEO and president of Great Lakes Electronics. “Our Earth Day event provides a great opportunity for consumers to safely dispose of unwanted and broken electronic equipment. We’re hoping the people will take advantage of this program and bring in their obsolete electronic devices and we will be glad to unload their equipment and answer any environmental or security questions they may have.”
The company is also partnering this year with Troy-based Operation: Kid Equip (www.operationkidequip.org), a nonprofit organization with one mission: to put educational gear into the hands of area students and teachers. GLEC will be providing as many as 25 refurbished computers, monitors and keyboards for the organization to provide to area students.
GLEC offer state-of-the-art security destruction. Memory devices such as computer hard drives will also be accepted at the event and destroyed in a giant 15 ton shredder on site at the Warren facility.
Based in Warren, Mich., GLEC is one of the fastest growing and largest electronic and metal recycling companies in the United States. Founded in 2000 by Nathan Zack, GLEC offers nationwide pickup service for corporate clients, large retailers and government agencies that need a safe, secure and reliable method for recycling their electronic equipment. GLEC has grown to more than 120 employees with eWaste and metal recycling centers in Warren, Chicago, Daytona Beach and Orlando. GLEC received its environmental ISO 14001-2004 certification earlier this year. For more information, please call 1-888-E-WASTE-1 or visit www.recycleelectronics.com.
