Great Protest Songs web site launched featuring political music

What started as a piece of school homework to create a video for YouTube, turned into a growing site containing over 50 videos of the best protest songs from the last half-century.

Rob said ‘there is so much apathy today and a lot of popular music has descended into commercial X-Factor style entertainment. We wanted to highlight the music that has a message and has made a difference to people’s lives. Protest songs and political music of all kinds has been a motivating force behind the freedom struggles in the Arab world, just as it was in the American Civil Rights movement, the ending of the Vietnam War, the overthrow of Apartheid and other social struggles. Our hope is that popular culture can rise to the social, political and environmental challenges we face and inspire a new generation to find answers’.
