Green Bay Wisconsin honors Autism indi film "God's Ears" with Best Picture
Sunday night as the Academy was bestowing their Oscars in the heart of Hollywood, The Green Bay Film Festival was honoring the unsung independent films with their own awards in Northern Wisconsin.

During the most celebrated night in Hollywood, the inaugural film festival for Green Bay was holding their own celebration of the lesser known brethren of Hollywood studios on the other side of the country. The Green Bay Film Festival closed a successful first run of over 30 feature films and shorts screening at the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay. Director Cyndee Sweetland and her partners had to sort through over 220 entries from over 20 countries to get their final selections and nominees.
Sunday night , The KGB drama "Armed Resistance" took home Best Director while Luke Gassers documentary on Native American culture, "Bodmer's Journey", walked away with Best Documentary. One of the closing films of the festival from director and actor Michael Worth, the sleeper, word of mouth stand out "God's Ears", managed to take home the Best Picture Award of the evening. Also nominated for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor, Worth's touching portrayal of a want-to-be-boxer with autism (which won Worth a Best Actor Award last year at The American International Film Festival) has left quite a buzz in the Autism community for its non-sensational and positive portrayal of an autistic character. Still seeking a firm distribution deal, Worth continues to tour his film around the United States to eager filmgoers. "We are so happy to have been a part of this festival" Worth says, "and very honored to have been granted this awesome award among such other incredible works of film". The drama also stars screen legend John Saxon, Margot Farley, Karen Kim, Tim Thomerson and even Worth's own grandmother Lois Stewart in her first acting role.... at the age of 86.
Green Bay's successful event will certainly be the first of many more to come. For more info go to www.gbfilmfestival.org.
