Greening Your Printer

• Put it on surge protector – turning off the surge protector is like unplugging of a machine. If you do not surge it off, it will still consume some amount of electricity

• Use both sides of the paper – Most of us do not think before we actually hit the print button. We just give the command and fifty pages are printed! Now just think, do you really want 50 pages, printed on single side. If it is internal use only, why not print on both sides and condense it into 25 pages? You will end up saving so much paper daily!

• Do not print unless absolutely necessary – Many a times, we just need to scan, fax or email a document. But we still print it out. There are ways and means to scan a document without actually printing it. Same hold true for fax. Please make sure you learn these nuisances so that your office moves a step forward in saving resources!

• Print in draft and black and white mode as much as possible – Most of us are not even aware of the “draft” mode. But in the print click, if you hit on “properties”, this draft mode and black white setting will pop up. Try using these modes if color or beat quality is not required. It will reduce ink usage and prolong the life of the cartridge and ink
