Greyhounds of Shefaro - Bexata

A few years ago, an old friend came to me asking me if I wanted to buy a Greyhound girl she had available. I had no designs to have a Greyhound, but went to meet her anyway. Took her home and, as they say, the rest is history. I named her Lola Rouge and she finished her championship in short order. The Greyhound bug bit and I went looking for a Greyhound friend for Lola. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase the wonderful "Einstein" who became a Best in Field lure courser. Lola was out of show lines, Einstein out of racing lines, and crossing the two turned out to be perfection. Together Lola and Einstein produced the No., 1 NOFCA (National Open Field Coursing Association) Greyhound, number 2 all breeds 2011. After enjoying my experiences with Greyhounds and having so much success, especially on the coursing field (live and lure), I decided I wanted to give back and officially formed a 501(c)(3) non-profit for the purpose of helping Greyhounds. Helping those that are in need is my way of giving back for God's gifts to my life. I began working with a wonderful Greyhound farm which allows me to bring young Greyhounds to my ranch, work with them and adopt them out to glorious families with a great appreciation for the breed and what these youngstres have to offer. While they are at Bexata, we do play training, crate and leash training, preparing them for homes of their own, but, while they are here, we play lure coursing as well and if a Greyhound shows a desire to participate, we go to competitions. It is fun for the Greyhounds and for me. New families may also adopt if they would like to lure course or if they want a jogging or walking partner, or just a couch potato and friend. Some of these youngsters have lure coursed to Best in Field, including Carrie who has back to back Bests in Field and is 3 points away from finishing her Field Championship. Black Beauty is another Best in Field lure courser who is working on her Field Championship. To that end, she will be competing at the Lure Coursing National in December of 2011. These kids are worthy of the best that I can do for them in letting them continue on enjoying running through field trials and finding them new adopting homes of their own.
