FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 9, 2012 --San Pedro, CA – The Golden State Pops Orchestra invites the public to attend the next concert in the GSPO Ensemble Series. On Sunday January 22nd at the First Presbyterian Church in San Pedro the GSPO Ensemble will perform a concert called “ International Sounds” that will feature, Inkarri Escaramuza for Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello by Gabriela Lena Frank, Mu Kkubo Ery’ Omusalaaba by Justinian Tamusuza for String Quartet and a Jean Francaix Octet.
GSPO has been presenting its own brand of chamber music programs for the past three seasons and wanted to highlight the many talents of GSPO musicians in this re-imagined series of concerts. The music was chosen to relate to the larger symphony concerts performed by the Golden State Pops Orchestras and their film score themes, while retaining an accessible, family friendly format.

CHAMBER MUSIC FAVORITES
SUNDAY MARCH 18TH, 2012 @ 3:00 PM
THE GRAND ANNEX, 434 WEST 6TH STREET, SAN PEDRO
Featured flutist, A. Phoenix Delgado performing the Mozart Quartet in D for Flute, Violin, Viola, Cello, Quintet No2 in Eb major, op 88, 2 by Reicha for Woodwind Quintet and the Beethoven Trio Op. 9 No. 3 for String Trio.
Maestro Steven Allen Fox notes - “We are excited to continue this GSPO style of weaving fun, educational information into these intimate programs. Some of our music and education collaborators (and core GSPO players) in this new concert series have been assisting us with the previous incarnation of our chamber series, so this was a natural transition.”
The GSPO Ensemble Series grew out of the players' support for local elementary school assembly programs, sort of a reverse formation much like the structure of the concerts themselves. The concerts are designed to take the audience on an exploration of the afternoon’s music by playing examples of the predominate themes and then performing the piece in its entirety. This is a way for music lovers of all ages to enjoy ensemble music in a smaller setting. “It’s really music from the inside out,” says GSPO Executive Director Linda Grimes. “Maestro Fox takes each piece apart; the musicians play a section and then play the piece in its entirety. It is a fun, uplifting way to learn more about music and hear some great musicians! ”
The first two concerts of the series will be presented at the freshly renovated chapel at the First Presbyterian Church in upper San Pedro and the last concert will return to the Grand Annex, home of the Grand Vision Foundation.

ABOUT THE GSPO:
The Golden State Pops Orchestra (GSPO) was formed in January of 2002 and is currently the only year-round pops orchestra in the Los Angeles area. The GSPO focuses on exciting and innovative concerts that are designed to entertain both the seasoned enthusiast as well as the casual music lover. The orchestra’s repertoire includes film and television scores, legendary Broadway hits, and popular music of all kinds.
