FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Amelia Island, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 16, 2012 -- The Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) has invited artist David Snyder to participate in the 2012 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, which will take place March 8-11, in Amelia Island, Fla. at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton and the Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach. Snyder will showcase his painting “Advanced Thinking” among the other AFAS artists displaying a variety of subjects, including the celebrated Shelby Cobra, the Ferrari GTO and historic raceways.

“It’s a privilege to exhibit with such a renowned group of artists,” said Snyder. “They have been a significant influence in the automotive industry and continue to inspire those around them. I’m proud to be a part of a group at this year’s show that displays such great talent.”

Taking concours patrons back in time, the acrylic on board, “Advanced Thinking,” measures 28” x40” and features a Studebaker dealership typical of the era, set against a dramatic sunset backdrop. Snyder, known for his historical accuracy and commitment to detail, mixed and blended the paints to match the factory color paint chips bringing the automotive color palette of the 50’s and 60’s to life. With the introduction of the Avanti and Lark Daytona, 1963 was a historic year for Studebaker.

“I conducted many hours of research before I began to paint,” added Snyder. “I was determined to capture the architecture of the typical Studebaker Dealership of that period, from the signage and the showroom to the service bay. It’s the historical accuracy and detail that bring my paintings to life and sets the mood of that particular era.”

After 22 years as a designer, art director and illustrator, Snyder returned to drawing and painting cars. In 1996, Snyder started self-publishing his automotive paintings as limited edition fine art prints. In 2008, he published the book “The Automotive Art of David Snyder,” which chronicles the first 12 years of his automotive art career. To date he has executed over 100 paintings of the ‘50s-‘70s muscle car era.

Snyders’s original paintings hang in corporate collections that include Bank of America, General Motors, Trim Parts, Lionel, Cincinnati Museum Center and Brumos Porsche, as well as private collections. His prints are collected worldwide and his work has been featured in Hemmings Classic Car, Auto Afficianato, Hemmings Muscle Machines, Mopar Muscle, Muscle Car Review and Car Collector.

Winner of several national awards including Arts for the Parks, Ault Park Concours d’Elegance First Place Award, Kentucky Governors Art Award, Snyder was also the official artist for the Kentucky Bicentennial. He graduated from Central Academy of Commercial Art and studied at the University of Cincinnati. Snyder resides in Milford, Ohio with his wife and business partner Marion Snyder. They have two daughters and two grandsons.
