FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Torrington, Connecticut, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) May 27, 2011 -- Guida’s Milk, one of the largest independent dairies in New England, teamed up with the Brain Injury Association of CT (BIAC) this month to hand out over 350 bike helmets to Torrington Middle School Students.

The BIAC provided over 350 sixth grade students with an educational presentation on the importance of bike helmet safety in the Torrington Middle School auditorium. Immediately following the presentation Michael Guida, President of Guida’s Milk, handed out bike helmets to the students with his daughter Ashley Davis, Call Order Lead, and David Drezek, the Director of Customer Service and Transportation for Guida’s Milk. Even the Guida’s Milk mascot, Supercow, joined in the fun and helped hand out the helmets.

Michael Guida suffered a brain injury as a result of an accident years ago. In an unrelated accident, his brother Alexander Guida, Chairman of the Board of Guida’s Milk, also suffered a brain injury. Having been a brain injury survivor himself and knowing the lengthy recovery process, Mr. Guida understands firsthand the importance of taking preventative measures to ensure no child or adult needlessly has to suffer a brain injury. He makes it a point each year to take time away from the office to personally help hand out the bike helmets.

Mr. Drezek stated, “We don’t need to hear about a child saved by the bike helmets donated by Guida’s Milk. It is the child who falls on their bike, hits their head with the helmet on and hops back up on the bike to keep riding without anyone knowing that we’re hoping for. The untold story is the best one of all. If these helmets help even one child and their family from having to deal with a brain injury then it has been worth it.”

Mr. Guida knows the benefits of the work done by the BIAC and feels passionately about supporting their organization. As a result, Guida’s Milk now celebrating its 125th year in the dairy industry is a proud co-host of the 25th Annual BIAC / Guida’s Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at Lyman Orchards Golf Course on June 10th. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the BIAC, Connecticut’s only non-profit agency serving people with brain injury and training professionals. This funding helps the BIAC fulfill the growing demand for continued services including a help-line, support groups, workshops, seminars, prevention and educational programs.
