Snider’s Rustic Inn, located in Thayne, Wyoming, is now offering guided fishing in western Wyoming on the Salt River. Fabyn Hanson, owner of Snider’s Rustic Inn, is the lead guide with over twenty years experience on both Idaho and Wyoming waterways. He will create a memorable fishing adventure with his love of the rivers and knowledge of the area. Mr. Hanson uses Hyde drift boats on his fishing trips which will accommodate two fishermen and the guide. Half day and full day fishing trips are available. It is recommended to book fishing trips early to guarantee availability.
The Salt River is a small river that originates on the western slope of the Salt River Mountain Range just south of the town of Afton. The Salt River flows north through scenic Star Valley Wyoming between the Salt River Range of Wyoming and the Caribou Range of Idaho into the Palisades Reservoir at its confluence with the Snake River. The Salt River is a flat water river but does offer scenic canoe, kayak, rafting and fishing trips.
Trout residing in the Salt River include Brook, Rainbow and the Snake River Fine-Spotted Cutthroat, which average 10-14 inches in length. Brown trout are present but normally stay in the deep cool water of Palisades Reservoir until fall at which time they will migrate into the Salt River.
The Salt River is open for year round fishing.
