Guitarist Rod DeGeorge, in collaboration with keyboardist Dave Lewis and singer Soji Otuyelu released the humorous holiday song “Jesus! Don’t Tell Me (It’s Christmas Time Again)”, a commentary on the over commercialization of Christmas. In exasperated homage to the holiday shopping season which seems to start earlier and earlier each year, the trio combined their considerable musical experience to create the next holiday spoof classic. The song is now available on iTunes at http://bit.ly/g3v4L0.
DeGeorge was asked to write a song for the Rock 4 Xmas CD and although he has written dozens of songs in various styles for a wide range of artists, jingles etc, he had never written a Christmas Song. While driving to a show with Lewis, Lewis joked “call it Jesus! Don’t Tell Me It’s Christmas Time Again! They both laughed and DeGeorge responded “I’m not sure if that’s what they are looking for”, but he couldn’t get the phrase out of his head. Since Lewis inadvertantly came up with the idea, it made sense for DeGeorge to write the song with him. For a while, DeGeorge was looking for a vocalist who could pull off the humorous qualities with no luck. While meeting a friend who was in from LA, at a local bar, that happened to be hosting an open mic, Otuyelu performed. “I thought he would be a great fit for the song.” says DeGeorge. “I asked him if he’d be up for it, and he was!”

About Rod DeGeorge:
Rod DeGeorge is a guitarist and producer with endorsements from major companies such as XOX Audio Tools, the makers of the Handle Guitar (including a Rod DeGeorge signature model), Gibson Guitars and Dunlop Guitar Accessories.
He has appeared on VH1, E! Entertainment Television, and in the upcoming film, “Mayor Cupcake”, starring Leah Thompson (Back to the Future) and Judd Nelson (Breakfast Club). Performing live 50 weeks a year, he has shared the stage with Paul Stanley of Kiss, Earl Slick (guitarist for both John Lennon & David Bowie) and members of Foreigner and 38 Special. DeGeorge has also performed to crowds of over 68,000 at half-time shows for the Philadelphia Eagles, and to over 20,000 at RFK Stadium. He has played special events in Washington D.C, at the Russian Embassy, as well as the Air & Space Museum's Inaugural Ball, attended by over 6,000 international guests for President Obama’s Inauguration.
DeGeorge’s original compositions, and his production and arrangement skills, have been used by MTV, The United Way and the cable show “Just Fishing”. His work is featured in the film, Butterflies in the Wind. He also wrote, recorded and produced a commercial jingle for the United States Census Bureau; both the song and video were used in their Regional and National ad campaigns.
DeGeorge’s most recent CD release, “Cosmic Playground”, showcases his instrumental music. The title track was featured in Guitar Player Magazine. He was also featured in other major international publications such as Hammer World in Hungary, and Guitar Player, Brazil. His session work has included projects with Craig MacGregor, bassist for the platinum-selling band Foghat, and his songwriting abilities have gained the interest of artists from Sony and Motown Records.
DeGeorge developed the Future of Music (FOM) series; a program for young musicians to learn about music composition, basic business principles, and giving them the opportunity to perform in a professional, concert setting. The success of the FOM program caught the attention of The United Way, who used the FOM performers to record the CD, “A Generation Unleashed”, to benefit their youth services throughout the region. DeGeorge produced the CD and assisted in planning and developing a day-long, outdoor CD release concert, hosted by Motown's R-Angels.
