On January 25, 2011, Max M. Hagen, Esquire of Hagen & Hagen, P.A. was honored by the Bankruptcy Bar Association in the Southern District of Florida for his legal service to the community for more than 40 years.
Along with Hagen in receiving this distinguished honor, other honorees from the Southern District of Florida that were presented with awards included Bankruptcy Judges such as the Honorable A. Jay Cristol and Honorable Raymond B. Ray.
The honor was bestowed upon these Florida Bar members at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami, Florida with cocktails followed by dinner and hosted by Bankruptcy Judge John K. Olsen. Judge Olsen called upon Hagen's son, Kevin L. Hagen, who is also his partner in the law firm of Hagen & Hagen, P.A., to present the award to his father.
The largest crowd yet for such an event laughed at the words offered by the presenters about the honorees. Kevin said of his father that "everyone loves Max Hagen", but that he was able to really say that he loves Max Hagen. At that point, the laughs turned to tears of joy and pride.
Guests sharing this occasion with Hagen included his wife, Barbara, and other family members including his daughters, Kim Portell and Keri Kaplan, as well as granddaughter Monica Eguino, who is the firm's bankruptcy coordinator. James R. Dunn, Esquire and Amy Scharf Kaplan, Esquire, other attorneys from the law firm, also attended to celebrate the honor and enjoy the dinner.
The law firm handles primarily consumer bankruptcies and maintains offices in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando to serve clients for most of the State of Florida in the Southern and Middle Districts of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
Hagen began practicing in Miami in 1963 and has continued to serve the community since that time with his general law practice. The most amazing feat...he still enjoys his work and loves helping others. A truly honorable man.
