Hailsham Mayor To Attend Annual Service To Commemorate The Battle Of Britain

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 25, 2010 -- The service will take place at the Hailsham Parish Church of St Mary’s and members and officers of Hailsham Town Council will be attending alongside representatives of the Royal Air Force Association (Hailsham Branch). The special service will mark the anniversary of the Battle of Britain and pay tribute to all those who gave their lives or have been affected by the conflict.

Following the service, the Town Mayor Councillor Robin Kempe, uniformed dignitaries and local organisations will take part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, Hailsham High Street.

Highlighting the opportunity for members of the public to unite with veterans to remember servicemen and women that performed in the battle 70 years ago, Councillor Kempe said, “The service will be a fitting way for all of us to commemorate those who fought for our country during the Second World War, and it will also be a good opportunity to pay homage to those whose bravery is still being shown in conflicts around the world today.”
