Hailsham Town Council Offers Part-Refunds on Senior Railcards

Hailsham senior citizens are entitled to claim a subsidy against their Senior Rail Card. If you are of retirement age and live within the Hailsham Parish, Hailsham Town Council will refund 75% of...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 3, 2010 -- ...the cost of your valid Railcard.

All you need to do is purchase your card at a train station or online and then bring the card to the Town Council Offices, Inglenook, Market Square, Hailsham, where you will be granted a refund.

The Senior Citizen's Rail Card can be used on most train operators throughout the United Kingdom and allows you a third off your train fare, if you are prepared to travel after 9am. You can also use it to receive a third off certain ferry journeys.

This pass costs £26 (price may differ if purchased online) and will last for 12 months from the date of issue. Terms and conditions apply for subsidies on 2 or 3-year Railcards – please contact Hailsham Town Council for further details.

Hailsham Town Council has provided over 1,800 refunds on Senior Railcards since 2002 and is the only council in the south-east to offer this benefit to residents.

Cllr Bryan Burchmore, Deputy Town Mayor and Chairman of the town council’s Finance, Policy & Resources committee said, “We would like to encourage as many senior citizens as possible to enjoy the freedom of travel that this mode of transport offers and increase public transport choice into the bargain, by offering our Senior Railcard subsidy scheme to older residents of Hailsham.”
