Beverly Hills and Los Angeles based, US Hair Restoration is concluding its hair transplant study at this year’s end. In the past few years, the latest technology in hair transplantation continues to see significant advancements. This study potential opens amazing possibilities for hair restoration patients and doctors.
Dr. Parsa Mohebi, medical director of US Hair Restoration, is a former research fellow at John Hopkins University. He foresees this new study as an opportunity for developing new ways of enhancing the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) transplant method of hair transplantation. Dr. Mohebi notes that the next advancement in hair restoration will be the development of FUE devices, that can punch, harvest, and implant follicular unit grafts in a short period of time.
This study will help determine the viability of follicular units outside the scalp. When this is accomplished the time needed for the FUE procedure will be significantly reduced, as well as the number of grafts able to be transplanted in one procedure will be increased. This will further advance the affordability of hair restoration through hair transplantation for patients, as well as, provide a cost effective way of operating for hair transplant patient surgeons.
“In order for hair restoration surgeons to assess how long a follicular unit graft can remain in a person’s scalp before an extraction, understanding the optimal time duration is necessary before the graft can be removed. This is the basic reason for the research.” Said Dr. Mohebi who continued, “This has never been done in the past and now for the first time at US Hair Restoration, we are trying to accomplish this study and help other hair transplant surgeons and the entire hair restoration industry, move to a new level of quality and understanding. Through this, we will ultimately aim to help design the newest technique and device for extracting follicular units.”
This study began October 25th and will continue until December 31st, 2011 at the Los Angeles US Hair Restoration office. The study’s focused on a tiny number of follicular units and will not affect the other transplanted grafts or stages of the hair transplant surgery.
