HANDLING SPECIALTY PROVIDING JET ENGINE LIFTS FOR INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE COMPANY

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 1, 2011 -- Handling Specialty, a provider of custom engineered and manufactured lift solutions to companies worldwide, has design engineered and is currently manufacturing five (5) airplane jet engine lifts to be installed in a test facility in the United States. The lifts, called Cargo-Vators, have been designed to safely and efficiently lift airplane jet engines as technicians prepare them for testing. Handling Specialty’s Cargo-Vators can be designed specifically to meet a wide array of complex material handling applications.

Jet engines are extremely complex and costly pieces of machinery. It is absolutely imperative to the customer that this equipment be handled with the utmost care and be kept steady during the preparation work. The lift also allows workers to create an ergonomically correct workstation.

To add further to the complexity of this lift application, the engine hoist (situated in the center of the four posts) needed to be able to handle different engine sizes and weights. Additionally, the engine hoist needs to be able to handle the differences in weight distribution in jet engines, with most jet engines carrying 60 per cent of their weight at the front.

The technical specifications of this lifting application are:
• Actuation (Cargo-Vator): Synchronized machine screw
• Actuation (Engine Hoist): Hydraulic

• Capacity: 32,000 lbs split 60/40 end to end (dynamic)
• Vertical travel: 193 inches
• Engine Hoist: 36 inches
• Side Shift: +/- 4 inches

This is a full turn-key project, as once the equipment is manufactured and successfully gone through a factory acceptance test, a team from Handling Specialty will supervise the installation of the lift and train technicians before turning the lifts over to the customer.
