http://www.hanoverareachamber.org The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce has named Christine Overton, PhD its first woman President and Chief Executive Officer. Overton brings to the Chamber 28 years of international business experience, serving the last two years as Business Development Manager with the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Overton served as Investor Relations Manager for the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce in Wyoming, where she was the liaison for several committees including Retail and Development, Agriculture, Energy, Natural Resources, and Government Affairs. These committees were crucial in the development of the Chamber’s 2008 Legislative Agenda for Campbell County in Wyoming and led to the first General Agenda which served as a working document for the Chamber. Overton served as a mediator for the 585 federally recognized Native American Indian Nations for several years and lived on the Navajo and Hopi Nations in Arizona.
Overton has been recognized with 6 letters from the U.S. Congress for business development expertise and over 45 business and humanitarian awards throughout Europe, America and India including a Scroll of Honor from 4 Rotary International clubs in Pune, India, for her excellence in business acumen, global humanitarian work and for the Indo-American relationship formed. Overton is respected for her loving nature and it is this mutual respect shown to everyone that has inspired executives to aspire to be greater than they thought possible. Her spiritual approach to life exemplifies her as a trusted partner and the chamber is poised for a great new era.
Building upon her strategic partnership planning meetings that were a respected part of her tenure with the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, Overton will lead roundtables that will closely engage members. “These focused 4 hour meetings enable members to effectively discuss their needs with each other.” Said Overton. “We not only discuss member products and services, but discuss philanthropic projects that the company is presently engaged with in the community. Strong alliances are formed, projects are reenergized, morale is lifted, needs are addressed and promotional ideas are created.” The Chamber’s new web site will serve as a platform for promotion, networking, information exchange and education. Members will have the opportunity to submit 30 second video commercials to promote their products and services to a wider audience. The Chamber will launch a brand new on-line business networking tool early next year which will serve as a key strategy for members to meet each other without leaving their office. Industry experts will be invited to submit articles of interest and respected political columnists will keep the membership up to date with current election news. New committees will be formed over the next twelve months including the Office of Public Safety, International Business Exchange, Mentorship Training and Finance. With the forthcoming elections, the Government Affairs committee will concentrate on organizing opportunities for members to meet with legislators for question and answer seminars. Cultural exchanges will be encouraged as the Chamber launches its new International Partnership Program to include translation services, cuisine listings, etiquette, and tourism.
The Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce is devoted to improving the business climate and community well being in the markets it serves, namely; Cedar Knolls, East Hanover, Florham Park, Whippany and surrounding communities.
