Honolulu, Hawaii, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) October 5, 2011 -- Hawaii Theatre is proud to announce its upcoming tribute to celebrated Hawaiian composer Irmgard Farden Aluli (Auntie Irmgard) – Na Haku Mele: A Tribute to Irmgard Farden Aluli & Ohana – at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011.

Mihana Souza, Luana Farden McKenny and Aima McManus join music director Hailama Farden for this remarkable evening celebrating the centennial of Auntie Irmgard's birth. Na Haku Mele: A Tribute to Irmgard Farden Aluli & Ohana features performances by Elua Kane (Tau Greig, Damien Farden), Ken Makuakane, Paahana (Douglas Tolentino, Pakala Fernandes, Kaipo Kukahiko), and Puamana (Mihana, Luana, Aima) along with featured hula stylings by the women of Mapuana deSilva's Halau Mohala Ilima, and family members of the Farden and Aluli families. Tickets are on sale now at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office for $25. Discounts are available.

Na Haku Mele: A Tribute to Irmgard Farden Aluli & Ohana also features audio, photo, and video souvenirs from private collections. Special guests sharing this evening include Leialoha Gould, Kuuipo Kumukahi, Melveen Leed, Nalani Olds, Marlene Sai and Mokihana Teves.

Born October 7, 1911 in Lahaina, Auntie Irmgard wrote an estimated 400 songs, including songs for children. She was recognized as the most prolific female composer in Hawaii since Queen Lili`uokalani. One of 13 children, she was raised in a musical family with many of her brothers, sisters and cousins sharing a love of music and playing instruments. Her first hit song was "Puamana," which expressed her fondness for her home in Puamana, Maui. Other popular compositions include "E Maliu Mai," "Baby Kalai" and "Laupahoehoe Hula." She spearheaded the formation of the group Puamana, which included two of her daughters, Mihana and Aima, and her niece, Luana. A member of the Hawaii Music Hall of Fame of Fame, Auntie Irmgard continued to perform well into her eighties. She passed away on October 4, 2001.

Tickets: Tickets are $25 and are on sale now at the Hawaii Theatre Box Office, located Downtown at 1130 Bethel Street (between Hotel and Pauahi Streets), during regular box office hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or online at www.hawaiitheatre.com. Discounts are available for Hawaii Theatre Members, groups of 10 or more, youth 18 and under, seniors 62 and older, and students and military with valid ID. Concierge offers also available.
