HbbTV heading to Russia : httv will showcase HbbTV compliant solutions at the CSTB 2012
At the CSTB 2012 in Moscow, httv will showcase solutions based on HbbTV, the new European standard for connected TVs and STBs, on its booth n°526-Pavillon 1-Hall 3.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 25, 2012 --
httv is an iTV end to end solution provider which has been already present in Russia for many years by developing EPG solution for NTV+, the leading satellite operator. From head-end to the set-top box, httv will showcase during the event a complete HbbTV platform matching operators’, broadcasters’and manufacturers’ needs.
At the CSTB 2012, httv highlights will include:
- httvStream HbbTV: A robust, cost-effective DVB data streamer and real-time multiplexer dedicated to hybrid interactive applications. It is used both for production and pre-production. It has been the first datastreaming solution for the HbbTV standard commercially deployed on the French market.
- httvBOX: an innovative STB turnkey solution which simplifies and unifies access to all types of delivery platforms: broadcast, broadband and OTT. It is an embedded software, which can be adapted to accommodate any device, ranging from a simple IP or DVB zapper to an advanced hybrid PVR with a media center feature. It offers an extensive range of features (non linear TV services, enhanced EPG, etc.). Thanks to its HbbTV player, the solution benefits from the interactivity powered by HbbTV.
httv has supported the development of the HbbTV standard since its creation and took part in several French HbbTV trials. httv is also a member of the HbbTV consortium and the HD forum, the association specifying the HbbTV for the French DTT.
The adoption of the HbbTV standard has been continuing to grow, with interest spreading throughout all Europe including Russia. If Broadcast is still the main TV reception in Russia (65% cable, 32% satellite, 3% IPTV), the penetration of digital TV is is growing rapidly with an analogue switch-off expected to be completed by 2015 (1)
This opens perspectives for an increasing demand of services using broadband as catch-up TV or VOD. The development of the HbbTV standard (allowing both broadcast and broadband reception) should benefit from this new consumption trend. With HbbTV standard, broadcast TV will be able to offer in a consistant way, an increasing number of broadband services such as VOD and Catch-up TV.
“We believe httv’s solutions can generate a strong interest with the Russian Market for broadcast as well as Broadband and OTT operators.” says Philippe Tommasi, httv’s sales director. He added: “Moreover, with the adoption of DVB-T2 by Russia in September 2011 and the increase of the quality of service of the Broadband Network, HbbTV will certainly be considered for the Russian DTT. httv’s HbbTV expertise and long experience within the Russian market, will be serious competitive advantages in favor of httv’s solutions."
