(Free-Press-Release.com) March 18, 2011 -- How Many Calories in an Egg?

That’s a one eyebrow-raising question. A lot of people get confused with the answer. It is because many know that eggs are high in fat content. Many people without realizing it may consume them almost every day of their life. You eat in during breakfast. You either scramble it up or have it sunny side up. You can even whip up some Eggs Benedict. During lunch, it’s incorporated in your lasagna. Dinner time comes and you have a cake for dessert. It also has eggs. You probably have consumed about 40 eggs in a week. It’s quite a shocker, right?

Getting back to that question, many still debate about it. For one reason, it has high amounts of cholesterol. How about the calorie count? A single small egg contains 54 calories. The medium size would contain 63, large egg would have 72 and the extra large would have 80 calories. That is according to the USDA Standard. So to speak, the single large egg would have 200 mg of cholesterol and 5mg of fat. A portion of that fat is saturated.

An egg has a lot of benefits. It’s good for the eyes because it decreases the chance of getting macular degeneration. Not only that, it contains six grams of protein and all the amino acids that you need for the body. You really shouldn’t have to worry about cardiovascular diseases because there’s no study that proves eggs cause strokes or heart attacks. As a matter of fact, it actually prevents such incidences. Again, it has no negative effect on the cholesterol level that you have. This food is also a benefit to women. According to a study, when a female consumes about 6 eggs, the risk of getting breast cancer is reduced to 44%.

So, do eggs make you fat? They don’t if they are eaten alone. When an egg is incorporated with other ingredients, calorie count may be massive. If you mix an egg to sugar and milk to make custard, then the calories you will get would be significantly higher. If you eat it alone. It’s ok to consume the yolk because it’s a good fat. That kind of fat would easily be burned off. It wouldn’t stick to the unwanted parts of your body. It won’t go straight to your thighs, arms, belly and buttocks. It would eventually be burned off if you pair it with daily exercise. You also have to make it a point to incorporate eggs in healthy meals. It’s ok to pair it with bread provided that you chose the whole wheat. Be smart and calorie-conscious. In no time, you would be able to have that weight loss you desired and at the same time, live a healthy lifestyle.
