HEARTS AND FLOWERS: AN ART SHOW FOR LOVERS AT BAR BASIC ON FEBRUARY 8

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it is the perfect time for the upcoming group art show “Hearts and Flowers: An Art Show For Lovers” at Bar Basic on February 8. The event presented by Thumbprint Gallery will feature a live mural painted by special guests Art Kills Artists and live screen-printing from Fuck Fame Bang Bang.

Art Kills Artists is an online collection of professional artists who cater to the masses. The company defies the elitism of the art world, while maintaining high quality original artwork and designs. The company’s founder, JFeather, will also be exhibiting art in Bar Basic’s gallery area.

Fuck Fame Bang Bang is a group of artists from all across the country from various locations including, Virginia, California, and Detroit. The company will be screen-printing t-shirts on demand at the event. The t-shirts will feature design collaboration by JFeather and Joseph Tejada, another artist exhibiting in the show.

Various other San Diego artists will be exhibiting. One of the other artists showing is Lenka Majek, who has exhibited at Suture Gallery and Thumbprint Gallery, and various other venues around San Diego. Also featured are Mofo, Victoria Bearden, Chris Larsen, and E. Manansala. Additionally, local San Diego DJs will be spinning throughout the night.

“Like a flower in the summertime, so does our heart take refreshment and bloom,” cries an ancient Aztec poem. Although, it is not yet summer, it is still a good time to do some Valentine’s Day shopping at this special art show celebrating love. The event starts at 7pm and runs until 12am. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Avenue in downtown. There is no cover.
