Heating oil has proved to be the most competitive fuel for off-grid home heating, once again. Figures published in the Sutherland Tables in January, show that the cost of heating an average 3 bedroom home in England, using an oil condensing burner is now c. £1,291. This compares to a cost of c. £1,676 for the same property using LPG.
These figures come about despite well documented price increases for oil in recent times. Oil prices are expected to return to a more affordable level as demand drops in line with temperatures improving in spring and summer months.
Unlike other fuel options, oil prices have a historical tendency to drop, as well as rise in line with demand. Oil customers have always benefitted from flexible prices in both directions, meaning that retail prices are much more likely to lower, as well as rise in line with wholesale prices. This is due to the highly competitive nature of the oil distribution industry in the UK & Ireland.
Bearing this in mind, oil customers are encouraged to take advantage of much more competitive retail pricing as summer approaches. Offering advice on getting the most from your fuel, Harlequin's Marketing Manager, Ciara Cox, says, "A simple way to make fuel savings is to ensure that you fill your tank while summer prices for oil are low. In addition, switching to a condensing oil burner could save you up to 18% per annum on your running costs."
Harlequin offer a variety of bunded oil tanks, ranging from c. 350 litres, up to c. 10,000 litres. For advice on choosing an environmentally preferred bunded oil tank, diesel tank or liquid storage tank, visit the 'products' section of the company's website, or use the contact form on our website to get in touch with a member of the Harlequin Support team.
