San Gabriel Valley, California—7 Dec. 2011—California Respite Care specializes in caring for children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities and services the entire San Gabriel Valley.

This agency is operated by Beth and Matt Francis, both of whom have been treating autism through Applied Behavior Analysis for nearly twelve years combined. The couple is extremely passionate about helping families maintain a healthy balance between being caregivers for their loved ones while retaining their own lives outside the home. It is their life mission to give assistance to families who care for a loved one with a mental or physical disability.

Matt Francis has a Master’s Degree in Teaching and he is a Board Certified Behaviors Analyst (BCBA) who has nine years of direct experience working with children suffering from developmental disabilities. Beth Francis has three years of experience working with children who have autism as a behavioral therapist. She is also the current Director of California Respite Care and as such oversees the agency’s day-to-day operations, manages staff, regularly communicates with families in their programs, and is in regular contact with the local regional center: San Gabriel Pomona Regional Center.

Families who have children with these disabilities often find themselves feeling isolated from activities that they may have participated in prior to becoming caregivers. California Respite Care understands the importance of providing caregivers with the ability to pursue their own interests and have their own lives outside of the home. Their fully licensed professionals will come to a caregiver’s home up to 30 hours each month for free and will make sure that their loved one follows their daily routine. The staff member will also promote age-appropriate activities to keep them occupied and anxiety-free such as reading and participating in light sports.

It is incredibly important for caregivers to take time out for themselves. Being a full-time caregiver to an individual with developmental disabilities can be incredibly taxing and stressful. California Respite Care enables caregivers to spend time with other family members or friends, go to the gym, do grocery shopping, or other everyday tasks so many unaffected families take for granted.

California Respite Care is an authorized respite agency which employs trained professionals to promote safety awareness within the home. Its Respite Service division will also assist your loved one with their daily living needs. All staff members are CPR / AED and First Aid Certified and will provide families with care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Their Behavior Respite Service addresses minor behavior issues in individuals affected by a developmental disability. They are also trained to follow and respect the family’s existing behavior support plan so as not to cause confusion.

Extended services are also included in their respite plans. If you are a caregiver and your loved one requires babysitting service outside of your Regional Centre’s hours, extended services are available for purchase at a reasonable rate. Service rates differ depending upon the difficulty and level of respite care that is required.
