“HELP PATRICK FEED THE BABIES” SETS $10,000 FUNDRAISING GOAL FOR 2011 HOLIDAY SEASON

November 10, 2011

Patrick Donovan, the inspiration behind the “Help Patrick Feed the Babies” charity which collected $6,000 in baby formula for food banks in 2010, is targeting a goal of $10,000 in donations for 2011.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 10, 2011 -- With the holiday season approaching, the charity is accepting baby formula, food and monetary donations at area drop-off points and through Amazon direct shipment from its website. The organization also accepts online PayPal donations at http://www.helppatrickfeedthebabies.org.

Patrick, who is deaf and has autism, watched a television program on childhood hunger three years ago and signed to his mother “Can we help?”

“What makes Patrick special is his big heart,” says his mom, Courtney Donovan. Courtney and husband Bob have helped Patrick contribute over $15,000 worth of formula to food banks over the last three years.

In the process of canvassing businesses and collecting the formula donations, Patrick’s parents realized the benefits went beyond the food banks. Patrick found purpose and involvement with his community - opportunities not easily available to individuals with disabilities.

By founding “Help Patrick Feed the Babies”, the Donovans hope local food banks will benefit as adults with disabilities work to fundraise and collect formula for the organization. According to Philabundance, food insecure households are at 12.5 percent of the population. Hunger statistics coupled with an unemployment rate of 14.8 percent for Pennsylvania residents with disabilities has set the agenda for the organization’s 2011 goals. To donate or become a drop-off point for baby formula, please visit Help Patrick Feed the Babies website at http://www.helppatrickfeedthebabies.org.
