FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Leesburg,
Virginia,
United States of America
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 28, 2010 --One of five finalists, Kyria Henry of paws4vets was chosen from nearly 2,000
submissions in the ]“Life Improvement Sabbatical Contest,” dedicated to improving the lives of the program creators and those in their community. If Henry wins the public vote
portion of the contest, it will win $100,000, and that would help a lot more veterans like
Buf Kloppenborg who are suffering from PTSD.
Buf was a Navy corpsman with 17 years of service before severe PTSD caused
dissociative amnesia and the loss of 14 years worth of memories, including those of his
three young daughters. Traditional treatment wasn’t cutting it. Then a puppy made him
smile for the first time in nearly a year.
Enter paws4vets, a program that trains and provides Psychiatric Service Dogs to veterans
suffering from PTSD. When Buf met SALLY, his whole world opened up. He regained
enough confidence to go from buying his meals in a nearby gas station to shopping at a
real grocery store.
Buf still doesn’t have any memories of those 14 lost years, but SALLY has turned his life
around. She’s even given him the courage to meet his daughters for what felt like the first
time.
Other Psychiatric Service Dogs can have the same positive impact on other veterans with
PTSD, but paws4vets needs the public’s support in Ikea’s“Life Improvement Sabbatical Contest.”
While the dogs are provided at no charge to the veterans, paws4vets foots a bill on par
with that of a nice car. Your vote could ease that burden. Go to “Life Improvement Sabbatical Contest” to enter your email and vote. Visitors are allowed one vote per day for each registered email address.
Help paws4vets help more veterans like Buf Kloppenborg. Show our troops you care about them even after they come home. A vote a day might just keep PTSD at bay.
paws4vetsTM is a paws4peopleTM foundation program.
The paws4peopleTM foundation privately places trained, certified and insured Assistance Dogs with
individuals with physical, neurological, psychological and/or emotional disabilities.
