Helping Youths Build Entrepreneurial Mindsets and Allowing their Dreams to Take Flight

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 3, 2011 -- 29 OCTOBER 2011, Kuala Lumpur – 43 students from various universities and colleges around Malaysia who registered for the Maybank-MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES 4) Challenge attended the first Entrepreneurship Training at Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UniRazak), CapSquare, KL.

The training, which was conducted from 10am to 5pm is designed to teach, guide and support these students on how to avoid the common pitfalls and challenges faced by entrepreneurs. Students also learned how to create solid business ideas, prepare executive summaries, create elevator pitch and hone their business presentation skills.

Throughout the program, students were also involved in a business simulation which revealed to them the inherent mindsets they had and how it will affect their entrepreneurial journey. The MoneyTree business simulation is the first-of-its-kind simulation that allows participants to “Experience” Entrepreneurship hands-on. What makes the program unique is the MoneyTree proprietary training methodology and approach in creating an environment that allows YES participants to apply the lessons they have learnt within the simulation.

One of the participants, C.H Tay finds that the key concept which has impacted him in the most profound manner throughout this Program is to “start big, think big and not to take the safer path”.

MoneyTree Malaysia Director, Mr UV Wong stated, “The youth is not wasted on the young as he has seen time and again that youths have the ambition and drive within them to succeed but many lack the exposure, opportunity and guidance to bring their dreams to fruition – which is why we organize the YES Challenge every year”.

The Venue for the YES Entrepreneurship Training was sponsored by Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), in line with UNIRAZAK’s objective to be at the forefront of developing this nation’s Youth Entrepreneurs.

The MoneyTree Young Entrepreneur Startup (YES) Challenge is now in its 4th season. It is a real world business challenge where teams compete to over several shortlisting rounds to determine who will emerge as the Top 5. The winning team will then be selected based on its progress and implementation after a period of 3 months.
