HHS Deploys GateKeeper Mobile Hospital Systems in Response to Haitian Earthquake

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 9, 2010 -- When disaster struck Haiti on January 12th, 2010, emergency response teams across the US prepared for deployment. Within days of the earthquake US NDMS DMAT teams were on the ground setting up emergency field hospitals to help with the thousands of injured Haitians. With many of the areas medical facilities destroyed or affected by the quake, these field hospitals played a huge role in providing both emergency and basic health services for everything from trauma and triage to dispensing medications and dressing wounds.

Despite the challenging conditions on the ground in Haiti, the field hospitals were deployed and functioning shortly after the team’s arrival. Each DMAT team deployed their Western Shelter GateKeeper system; these shelter systems have been deployed by NDMS DMAT, FEMA USAR and various first responder teams around the US in response to some of our nation’s worst disasters. The familiarity with the GateKeeper system, as well as its ability to offer seamless integration and infinite logistical footprints, helped the DMAT teams to efficiently deploy a facility that could function amid the ruble left by the quake with the environmental security needed for emergency medical operations.
