पाकिस्तान छोड़कर सात हिंदू परिवार सोमवार को भारत आ गए। समझौता एक्सप्रेस से आए इन सात परिवारों में करीब 40 लोग शामिल हैं। पिछले दो साल से पाकिस्तान से हिंदू परिवारों का पलायन जारी है। अब तक करीब 120 परिवार भारत आ चुके हैं। लेकिन यह पहला मौका है जब एक साथ इतनी तादाद में लोग आए हैं।

इन हिंदू परिवारों के एक सदस्य दौलत राम ने अटारी रेलवे स्टेशन पर बताया कि पाकिस्तान में हिंदू बच्चों को स्कूलों से निकाला जा रहा है। दुकानें और घर लूटे जा रहे हैं। वह अपने परिवार के सदस्य सविता, मां राधाबाई, बच्चे ओमकुमार और गणेश के साथ पाकिस्तान छोड़कर भारत आ गए हैं। सुनील कुमार और उनके भाई महिंदर कुमार ने बताया कि उनका पाकिस्तान में जनरल स्टोर था। काफी दिनों से उन्हें धमकियां मिल रही थीं। एक-दो बार दुकान में लूट हुई।

पाकिस्तान के सिंध प्रांत में रहने वाले घनश्याम दास के परिवार के सात लोग भारत आए हैं। घनश्याम दास के परिवार में बुजुर्ग मां कमलाबाई, सास दयावंती, पत्नी रानी, भाई अशोक और बच्चों में महक व रिंकू शामिल हैं। घनश्याम ने बताया कि पाकिस्तान में तालिबान की हुकूमत चलती है। हिंदू परिवारों पर हमले हो रहे हैं। विजय कुमार ने बताया कि उनका पाकिस्तान में अच्छा व्यवसाय था। गत तीन माह उन्हें धमकियां मिल रही थीं। दुकान और घर पर कई बार हमले किए गए। अब वह पाकिस्तान छोड़ कर अपने परिवार के साथ भारत आ गए हैं। अटारी स्थित कस्टम के असिस्टेंट कमिश्नर वीके महाजन का कहना था यह हिंदू परिवार चूंकि पाकिस्तान छोड़कर आ रहे हैं। इसलिए चेकिंग करते समय यह ध्यान रखा जा रहा है कि घरेलू सामान परकमर्शियल कैटेगरी के तहत कस्टम ड्यूटी न लगाई जाए।
Stating that they do not wish to return to Pakistan due to Taliban's tyranny in the tribal areas, a group 35 Hindus, nearly half of
them women, from the neighboring country have crossed over to India and asked the government to allow them to settle in the country.

"We were living in Pakistan under extreme fear due to the domination of a strong group of Taliban who are running a parallel government," Jagdish Sharma, a resident of tribal area near Peshawar in Pakistan, said.

Recounting their ordeal, he said "Hindus and Sikh families are not safe, especially our women. We preferred to migrate in India, at least here in India we know that our families will be safe."

The four families comprising 16 men, 16 women and three children crossed over to India during the last few days through the Atari check post and later went to Delhi where they got a one-year visa and permission to stay in Amritsar.

"We strongly urge the Government of India to allow us to stay here in India permanently, since we don't want to move back in that hell where there is no life security," said Sharma.

Hardwari Lal, resident of Orkzai nearly 180 km from Peshawar, said, "I was running my grocery shop there which was forcibly taken over by the fundamentalists who also took possession of our entire property".
