Hip-Hop Art Show on March 29 at Bar Basic

San Diego, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) March 17, 2011 -- Hip-hop was born in the Bronx during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It eventually grew into one of the largest and most influential counter cultures in the world. Local artists will pay tribute to hip hop culture at Bar Basic on March 29. Expect to see artistic interpretations of the four elements of hip-hop at the group art exhibition presented by Thumbprint Gallery.

Andre Power will guest curate this edition of Bar Basic’s Tuesday night art show. Power is an emerging force in San Diego’s art and hip-hop scenes. The artist has showcased at various venues all around San Diego, including Thumbprint Gallery, Tara Nicole Galleries, Bluefoot Bar, and Soda Bar. He is also a regular live artist at various hip-hop events and concerts throughout the city.

One of the other exhibiting artists will be Monique Jenkins who is a regular at Bar Basic and Thumbprint Gallery art shows. Jenkins consistently shows her artwork all over southern California. She has also graced the cover of San Diego City Beat and regularly paints live at various hip hop-centered functions.

Some of the other artists exhibiting will include, Lucy Duarte, Duckman, Chi Hom, R. Dillo, EzRock, Dom Dillinger, and many more. Mint Collection will create live nail art and present their jewelry. True Delorenzo and Sharif I. Carter will paint live. DJ L, Windz One, and drdiggs will be bumping underground, old school, and true school hip-hop joints.

The event starts at 7pm and runs until midnight. Bar Basic is located at 410 Tenth Ave in downtown. There is no cover and no dress code. You must be over the age of 21 to attend.
