History behind P90X- What are the details and history of this famous workout system!?!

P90X found its beginnings in 1998 when Tony Horton and fellow trainer Debbie Siebers created the Great Body Guarantee. The next program in the line was the Power 90 in which Tony brought a fitness regimen that was more rigorous and was a combination of cardio and strength training. Tony Horton introduced his EXTREME version of Power 90 in 2004. The testing began in March 2003 by the Beach Body Company. Tony Horton put together a workout program with several different disciplines using the knowledge that he has as a trainer and professionals within the fitness community. Included in the work out are yoga, cardio, all muscle groups, kenpo (similar to kick boxing) and stretching.

Since its introduction P90X has helped over 2 MILLION people reach their fitness goals!!! Tony Horton uses a method that is known as muscle confusion to produce maximum results. This theory is simple. The workout program has three phases. Each phase has three weeks of a workout sequence followed by one week of recovery. Once a phase is completed a new workout series is introduced followed by one week of recovery. There is then a third phase and a third week of recovery. Muscles never have the chance to settle into a routine and therefore are constantly growing and being challenged.
