First Morgan dollar was struck in 1878, based on a design made by George T Morgan. Morgans were struck between 1978 and 1904, and then again in 1924. Design of a Morgan dollar features a picture of liberty on the observe; according to historians George Morgan used face of Anna Williams, a school teacher as a model for this coin.
