History of Volvo of Fort Myers

Fort Myers, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) February 24, 2011 -- We opened Volvo of Ft. Myers in September of 2007 as a brand new Dealership. Our history and expertise with Volvo goes back to 1984 where our owner, Loren Sheffer first started selling Volvos in Minneapolis Minnesota.

In 1988, Loren Sheffer and his then partner, Kjell Bergh opened a new Volvo store in Delray Beach, Florida and turned it into one of the largest and most successful Volvo Dealerships in the United States. Mr. Bergh at the time was one of the most honored and respected Dealers in the country. Being a native Norwegian and speaking fluent Swedish didn't hurt. Mr. Bergh has been knighted both in Sweden and Norway for his work promoting trade and cultural exchanges between Scandinavia and the United States.
In 2001, just 10 days after 911, Loren completed a buyout of Kjell's stock and became the sole owner of Borton Volvo in Delray. Loren continued the tradition set by Mr. Bergh by being elected President of the South Florida Dealers Association, winning "Dealer of the Year" from the American Import Automobile Association, and being awarded Volvo's Dealer of Excellence Award, President's Award, as well as Volvo's Hero for Life Award in 2003.

In 2004, Volvo offered Loren the open point in Ft. Myers. In order to fulfill and enhance his commitment to Volvo, Loren built a brand new 35,000 square foot state of the art facility complete with two lounge areas, a childrens play room, and a completely stocked parts department and air conditioned shop. Upon opening, he made his controller Nila Fuzia a minority partner as a reward for her years of dedicated service." Having a woman as a partner gives a Dealership an entirely different attitude.Women are the real decision makers in most Volvo buying transactions and Nila makes sure they're needs are met." Loren works at the dealership, and has put his personal cell phone number on every business card we hand out to help ensure all of our guest are as confident with us as we are with the product and services we sell.
Loren lives with his wife Monika and Daughter Nicole and son Bo in Delray Beach. His oldest Daughter is currently a Junior at the University of Wisconsin.
