Atlanta, Georgia - February 6, 2012 - "That which doesn't kill you, will make you stronger..." is one of the most notable inspirational phrases that is often used in times of adversity. That phrase could very well be the mission statement for HIV/AIDS activist and motivational speaker Denise Stokes. With National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day approaching us on February 7th, it is perfect timing for Stokes to release her great new empowering book titled "From The Crack House To The White House". For the last 30 years, she has shown outstanding strength to take what most would consider a "Death Sentence" and turn it into her life passion and purpose. Imagine how you would feel if you were to contract the HIV virus the very first time you were to have sexual intercourse. Well unfortunately that is exactly what happened to Stokes as a teenager after her first ever sexual encounter. That traumatic experience would have been enough to make the average person go into a deep dark depression or even consider taking their own life. However, Stokes is hardly the average person. Through much prayer, support and proper medical treatment over the years, the Atlanta resident has managed to use her HIV positive status as a teaching tool as well as a motivating factor to those who have also had to endure various life challenges and obstacles in their own lives.

With the release of her awe inspiring new book she takes readers on her inspirational journey of going through the darkest of times and experiences to eventually being appointed to by President Bill Clinton to serve as an advisor on his on HIV/AIDS Advisory Council from 1995 to 2000. She has also been a highly sought after motivational speaker at colleges, corporate functions, as well as countless HIV/AIDS panels and conferences. She was even a guest speaker at the 2004 Democratic National Convention on behalf of Senator John Kerry. She has come a long way from her hometown of Savannah, Georgia. Stokes has been profiled in publications like ESSENCE, Heart & Soul and on TV shows like "106 & Park" to name a few and has been a long time spokesman for BET's "Rap It Up Tour". "My life goals is to use my life experiences to educate, empower and enlighten others to strive to be their ultimate best, regardless of what happens to them and to find their purpose in life that God has for them. I hope that everyone within the African-American community as well as outside of it get tested tomorrow for HIV/AIDS", says Stokes about her motivation behind writing her book. Her book is currently available on her website www.DeniseStokes.com. Simply click on the cart icon at the bottom right corner of her home page to order the book. The book is also available on Amazon's website and will soon be available on other popular book sites like Barnes and Noble's and Books-A-Million's websites.
