HJGT Heads to Northeast Florida June 26-27 for Junior Golf Tournament at St. Johns Golf and Country Club

Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) June 9, 2011 -- The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) will host a local event at St. Johns Golf & Country Club in St. Augustine, FL on June 26-27, 2011. The HJ Glove Junior Open will be the first local tournament for the HJGT since the 54 Hole Challenge at Fleming Island in February. The tournament’s title sponsor, HJ Glove, has been the Official Glove of the HJGT for the past two years. HJ Glove has specialized in golf gloves for over 30 years and continues to strive toward the vision of our founder: to be the finest golf glove in the world.

The last time the HJGT had a tournament at St. Johns Golf & Country Club was July 22-23, 2009 for the St. Johns Junior Open. During that tournament, Evan Berlin of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL won the Boys 15-19 division by two strokes with a score of +4 (74+74=148). In the Girls 14-19 division, Heather Wiquist of Bluffton, SC won in a playoff over Shane Crutchfield of St. Petersburg, FL. Wiquist and Crutchfield tied at a +15 total score before they had to go to extra holes to decide the champion.

Juniors will compete over 36-holes of stroke play in one of five age divisions: Boys 15-19, Boys 13-14, Boys 10-12, Girls 14-18, or Girls 10-13. This event will be ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard (NJGS). New for 2011, any first-time player who registers for the HJGT will be able to play in his or her first event for only $99! Also, any player who registers for a College Bound Membership with the HJGT will be able to play in his or her first tournament of 2011 for just $99! And remember, any HJGT player who refers a new player to the tour will receive a 12-pack of Nike One Tour D HJGT Logo golf balls for free!

St. Johns Golf & Country Club is the community centerpiece of St Johns and offers a challenging, Clyde Johnston designed course to players in the St. Augustine area.
