HMS Software releases TimeControl Mobile

HMS Software has announced the release of TimeControl Mobile, a web application integrated into the popular timesheet system. Since its first commercial release in 1994 TimeControl has been recognized around the world as one of the most popular and flexible timesheet solutions to meet today’s business challenges. TimeControl is a multi-purpose timesheet, serving project management, payroll, human resources and finance from a single interface. Now TimeControl Mobile extends TimeControl’s accessibility to mobile devices such as the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Windows 7 Mobile smartphones.

“This is exciting news for our both our existing and future customers,” says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. “With business people being able to connect to the Internet at any time and from any place, TimeControl can now be available to them wherever they are.”

The web-application is an extension of the existing TimeControl functionality, delivering an interface and functionality specifically designed for smartphone browsers. Users need only point their browser to a specific link within their regular TimeControl systems and the new Mobile functionality is available to them. The system works in both portrait and landscape modes for devices that support them. When the phone is flipped from one orientation to the other, the screen instantly reformats to take advantage of the screen size available.

“The release of the mobile version is a major step forward for us in bringing TimeControl to our users wherever it’s convenient to them,” says Stephen Eyton-Jones, HMS Software’s Director of Technical Services. “The design of the system means that data is being accessed right in the client’s main TimeControl system and that means there’s nothing to transfer and nothing to reconcile.”

The design of TimeControl Mobile means that a user can start their timesheet on their smartphone, add to it during the week on their PC complete the timesheet from their phone. The two interfaces connect to the same TimeControl Server.
TimeControl Mobile can also be used by supervisors who are in the field to approve or reject timesheets just as they would from their full-screen web-based TimeControl interface. The mobile system even supports TimeControl’s alternate logins and automated validation rules.

TimeControl Mobile is included with all versions of TimeControl as of 6.2. There is nothing additional to purchase and no extra cost for the mobile interface. On the smartphone itself, there is nothing to install or configure.
