(Free-Press-Release.com) February 9, 2010 -- Home Decorating Deal-a-Day Site Offers Bargain Goods and Gives Bucks to Good Causes
Yasmin Khayat Mitchell started WUSLU.com when she found her family and friends were struggling to find affordable designer furniture and home goods to decorate their homes. “They wanted a high end look, but did not have the pocketbook to make it happen,” says Yasmin.

As a commercial designer of clothing stores, Mitchell had the industry connections to decorate her own home with a quality look that looked like it cost a lot, but in reality she used her knack for finding affordable décor and negotiated hard with suppliers to release product at a steep reduction in price. Haggling for a better price comes naturally to Yasmin due to her Syrian roots. “In my culture, haggling is the norm,” says Mitchell. “No one pays full price for anything, and you negotiate respectfully with the shop owner for a discount.” Her bargain hunting has paid off, and WUSLU.com offers furniture and décor items at much cheaper prices than what are normally found on the internet.
“If you comparison shop on the web, nine times out of 10 WUSLU will have the best price for the same product,” explains Yasmin. “Plus, our shipping is always $5 no matter how big or small the item is.” Of course, her family and friends took notice and always asked her to help them with design ideas. WUSLU came to life after she realized that there must be many more people out there who similarly needed help finding quality goods at reasonable prices.

The one trick with WUSLU.com is that it offers only one item for sale per day much like Woot.com does for electronics and gadgets. “WUSLU is the only deal-a-day furniture and home decor store and community on the internet. It's for people with a love and passion for home decorating who want to get a designer look on a budget,” says Mitchell.

A new product is offered every day at 10PM (EST), and customers have just one day to decide if they want to make a purchase. After 24 hours, the item is considered sold out and is swapped out for an entirely new item. On the weekends, Yasmin typically offers the best selling product of the week again so that customers who missed out can get a second chance at the deal. Customers never know what the top seller will be; in fact, customers largely have no idea what will be for sale at any particular time because Yasmin likes to keep up the element of surprise. One day it can be a $10 photo frame and the next day it can be a $599 carved look bathroom vanity with a stone counter. She’s got something for everyone and every price point at any given time. Customers can also sign up on WUSLU’s Twitter page at http://twitter.com/wuslu to get a handy update on what the latest offering is.

Yasmin did not create WUSLU.com for pure profit either, and she often donates the proceeds of her sales for the day to a worthy charity. For example, on February 9th, 100% of the profits will be given to the AVON Breast Cancer Walk. “If my customers write to me telling me about a worthy cause that they are passionate about, I’ll totally consider taking it up as a challenge to raise money with the revenues that have been made that day,” explains Yasmin. “Giving back is an important part of the WUSLU business model.” Mitchell will often chat up a social issue on the WUSLU blog that needs attention such as a recent post on the earthquake in Haiti and informed customers as to where they could make a donation.

Yasmin gets excited about putting up a new product each day and hearing her customer’s reactions. In her blog, she will answer design dilemmas that her customers might be having or even take up the challenge of offering a product that customers might be wanting. “Sometimes, customers will see an item on a design show on HGTV or their favorite television sitcom, and ask me if I can find something similar to it at a reasonable price,” laughs Yasmin. She then goes back and does extensive research to find the specific product or a reasonable match, negotiates a great price with her suppliers and offers it on her site. “It’s fun to make wishes come true,” says Yasmin.
With the economy still tight and people spending more time at home, her customers are the type of people who want to make their spaces still look like they spent a fortune on décor pieces or hired a designer. Yasmin doesn’t hesitate to indulge them by offering items that look like they cost a bundle, but in reality are nothing more than a quality product at a reasonable price. “At WUSLU we're committed to offering unique home decor finds from around the world for bargain prices.”

Visit www.wuslu.com at 10PM every day to be surprised by the latest deal of the day. It may just be something that you need to brighten up that dark corner of a room—and a steal.
