(Free-Press-Release.com) September 2, 2009 --
Two industry-leading franchise companies, both based in metro Denver, are teaming up to help senior citizens and their dogs. Homewatch CareGivers (www.HomewatchCareGivers.com), the largest, most experienced provider of full-service in-home care, and Bark Busters (www.BarkBusters.com), the world’s largest dog training company, have joined forces to help educate senior citizens about the joy and responsibilities of dog ownership. The two companies have integrated efforts to provide seniors with resources on dog ownership, dog care, and dog safety. These materials are available on both companies’ websites. Further, the companies have developed a community seminar series on similar topics offered for free to senior and civic organizations across the country.
“While we provide home services for people of all, senior citizens are a very important part of our client base,” said Leann Reynolds, president of Homewatch CareGivers. “By collaborating with our friends at Bark Busters USA, we learned that seniors are among the fastest-growing segment of dog owners. Education is part of our core mission, so developing educational materials to support our seniors is an integral part of our company objectives.”
The resources available include “The Seniors Guide to Selecting and Owning a Dog” covering topics, such as choosing a dog and bringing a dog home as well as practical dog handling and safety tips. This material is designed especially for senior citizens to help them make thoughtful decisions about dog ownership and is available at both companies’ websites or by clicking on www.BarkBusters.com/news/seniors.cfm. In addition to the web-based resources, the two companies have jointly developed a series of free community seminars, including “The Ten Things Every Dog Owner Should Know” and “Safety Tips for Families with Dogs.” These workshops, delivered by a Bark Busters-certified dog behavioral therapist, are available free of charge to community-based organizations, subject to geographic availability. Organizations interested in scheduling a free seminar are invited to contact their local Homewatch CareGivers or Bark Busters office or e-mail Seminars@BarkBusters.com and include the name of organization, ZIP code of organization, and a contact name and phone number.
“At Bark Busters, helping people better understand and manage their canine companions is the foundation of our company,” explained Liam Crowe, master dog behavioral therapist and CEO of Bark Busters USA. “We’re delighted to work with Leann’s top-notch team at Homewatch CareGivers to develop these resources for such an important audience. With a little forethought and a bit of training, almost any senior citizen can enjoy the benefits and unconditional love that comes with owning a dog.”
