Hotram Beach Resort launches Weekend Rice Harvest Festival

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 24, 2010 -- Vung Tau, Vietnam-Hotram Beach Resort & Spa has launched a Weekend Rice Harvest Festival urging their guests to get involved in the merry making of the harvest season with the farmers around the resort.

The program will enable the resort’s guests to experience a true Vietnamese culture in harvesting rice.

Hotram Beach Resort management organized the event to further promote tourism in rural areas showcasing the real Vietnamese culture in the farm.

The Rice Harvest Festival is set quarterly or every three month to celebrate the history of rice farming in Vietnam. Vietnam has been dubbed as the rice granary of Southeast Asia.

Allan Tuppil, general manager of Hotram Resort said, In Vietnam, “Rice is our attach food, but we don’t know how it is harvested. We want to showcase that process,” adding that the idea for this event came from some foreign guests of the resort and local Vietnamese tourist who travelled to the village to transplant rice. “They wanted to harvest the rice they had grown; and it coincides with the seasonal Rice harvest, which is why we encouraged our guests to also be a part of this event to experience real Vietnamese culture in the farm.” Hotram guests will be given orientation on how to plant and harvest rice.

Recently, over thirty guest and their children participated the launching of the Weekend Rice Harvest Festival of the resort. Guests were taken to the location by carriage, after reaching the rice fields by the horse carriage they were introduced to the staff who are farmers living in the area for the demonstration on what they do to harvest the rice. The event ended up with festive celebration at the resort with traditional farm dances.
