HOUBENS , DeVriendts, and Calia/Vernazza Flyers and Breeders by 5StarsLoft

I have always loved my DeVriendts which I first got from Robert Hall in 1999. That same years I had 4 DeVriendts bred by Robert win a 1st place for me at either the club or combine level. In 2006 I purchased a Black Houben pair bred by Ron Johnson of California out of Houbens he purchased directly from David Clausing. In 2007 I bred a few Black Houbens and pasted them out in some of my Young Bird kits that I sold that year. I bred one pair #2213 and nest mate #2214 that I gave to a local flyer for the 2007 Young bird season. At the end of the season, that flyer asked for pedigree information on the 5 birds that I had given him and in trade for the ped information, I received back 2213 a Black Houben male bird. That was the very beginning of my current family of winning Black Houbens. I named 2213 "Black Bart" and he proceeded to sire 4 1st place winners for different flyers. At the end of 2008 I knew that I had something special as I received two more reports of Black Houbens directly from Black Bart winning 1st place, one by over 10 minutes ahead of the others. So over the last few years I have been adding some new Houben blood to my Black family. Special Houben birds from super pigeon men like Bob McCarty, Steve Mulinio, Steve Burton and Paul Rueter all top flyers and breeders. I now have 6 Black Houbens that I feel are excellent breeders. The best thing is that I also have 3 full sisters, 2 are Black that are direct daughters of 97 CLAUSING 390 who was a 3 time 1st place winner for David Clausing. "390" is also a direct son of the only Black Houben that David Clausing ever imported, the "Gift Hen" from Jef Houben to David's son. So as the Young Bird Racing season nears I am also preparing for the 2012 Breeding season, only 6 months from this writing. My third line of excellent breeders are the Calia Vernazza line of birds that I have directly from Mr. Vernon Clausen of San Antonio. I truly believe that he has some of the best and straight blood that there is in the country. I have used Calias to cross into my DeVriendt to breed the special young pigeons and this years, 2011, I also used a few Calia onto my Houben and wow they are excellent handling birds plus they are beautiful in their colors.
