HOUSEHOLDERS BECOMING MORE ECO FRIENDLY SAYS BUY AS YOU VIEW
Householders are embracing the need to become eco-friendly, say electrical and home furnishing retailer Buy As You View.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 5, 2010 --
The retail and consumer finance company has launched a range of environmentally-friendly televisions and has already witnessed a surge in sales. The new Eco LED televisions use 40 per cent less energy than traditional televisions and demand for the more eco-friendly model has rocketed.
The demand has been so high that Buy As You View (BAYV) has now replaced some lines of products with the eco-friendly LED range permanently.
Steve Savage, Purchasing Director for BAYV, said: “The green message has become stronger in recent times and we have all been encouraged to become more environmentally aware.
“The message is obviously getting through as we have seen a growing ‘green conscience’ among customers when purchasing new products and there is a huge appetite for greener goods.
“The environmental impact and subsequent cost saving on electricity bills is an important priority for customers. Looking back 10 or 20 years ago, the main decider on buying a new domestic appliance was its appearance. Manufacturers have grown wise to the environmental agenda and have developed appliances which not only look good but bring with them a range of attractive benefits. And just looking at BAYV’s sales alone, it has worked.”
BAYV sells electrical appliances and home furnishings to customers through a weekly payment coin meter repayment facility on a buy now pay later scheme.
The Sharp Eco LED televisions use less light to produce a picture on the screen and are marked with the flower logo of the Eco-Label, which means it meets strict European Union environmental standards.
Mr Savage continued: “We are the only one of our competitors to be selling this range of Eco LED televisions and we have also introduced the new BEKO range of white goods which also use less energy. An energy saving fridge freezer for example cuts carbon emissions by 60 per cent and saves £45 off an annual electricity bill.
“As a company we have made huge strides to go green and are at the forefront of green technology having invested more than £6m in new schemes. We are making important steps forward in our goal to become a more carbon neutral company.
“Our investment includes waste management equipment to help us recycle 180 tonnes of waste each year, switching our company cars to a new environmentally-friendly eco model and introducing a new greener home delivery service. This will benefit our customers, employees, the company and the environment in cutting our carbon footprint.
“By introducing an eco-friendly range to our customers too, we can help to spread the green message further and ensure that we are also practicing what we preach.”
