How are Nutritional Supplements Made?

What is the difference in all of these vitamins on the market shelves? Are some better than others?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Luis Obispo, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 1, 2011 -- The Final Evolution in Nutritional Supplements
Happens To Be the Way It Was Originally Done

Paradoxically, the final evolution in vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal remedies returns to the way that herbs and elixirs were traditionally prepared by ancient healers.

One example of the ancient process of making traditional herbal remedies is as follows: the local shamans or their apprentices would pick the herbs and hang them to dry from the rafters. Then one of the villagers would crush the herbs with a wood pole and stone mortar. Someone else would go out and draw water from the well and fill a bowl. The healers would wrap the fine powder into a natural cotton bag, drop it into the bowl, and pray over it. Then they would repeatedly squeeze the bag, let it soak for a bit, and squeeze out all the water. They would repeatedly stir the bag around the side of the bowl and squeeze again. As with master distillers, they would know when it was perfect to serve, just by sensing, looking, feeling, and smelling the decoction.
MetaOrganics® replicates this process but on a larger scale, in a GMP-certified production facility. Under laboratory conditions, we are able to measure the delivered potency, and we can test for toxic metals and contaminants. We believe that our process which mimics the traditional processing of traditional extracts and formulations is the final evolution in supplements.

Check out the MetaOrganics line at http://www.ionicman.com, One of the only supplement lines known to meet these standards. Don't get steered into shopping by price. You'll be amazed at how affordable real supplements are. Here is a simple summary of the traditional extraction process:
Simple natural extraction of whole fresh organic raw herbs or food
1. Use freshly picked local herb or foods that have been used for hundreds of years by the indigenous population.
2. Sun dry them.
3. Crush or grind them.
4. Soak them in room temperature in water.
5. Extract them by repeatedly squeezing them in a cloth.
6. Dry the extract and make pills or drink the "elixir".
The history of vitamin marketing

When vitamins came out in the 1930's and 1940’s, they were fairly simple, relatively inexpensive, and totally synthetic. They were sold at your local drug store. It was about the same time that some clever marketing person thought that they could trick the average consumer into believing that refined white bread with a few vitamins added back was healthier than the natural grain homemade and delicious bread mom or grandma baked fresh.
Then in the early 70's vitamin stores, co-ops, and natural food stores recognized that there was significant profit in whatever was the next wonder food or special supplement to cure what ails you. A variety of "healthier vitamins" and "herbal remedies" started appearing, first behind the cash register and then slowly growing into a whole aisle of health supplements. Next came food-based vitamins.

The creative concept here was that if you cooked up some soy or yeast mixture and added synthetic USP vitamins to it you had a natural product. Now I still can't figure out how synthetics + chemically created = 100% natural. They wanted you to believe that somehow that was much better and safer for you than the simple synthetics by themselves. They may have been a little better, but not much. Because they are still the only ones doing any research into this concept, it's hard to tell if their claims have any validity.
The "food-based" product idea has become a big industry that launches a few dozen new products every month. Unfortunately, the public has no clue that these products contain toxic synthetic nutrients.

Now the same companies are adding organic products but still spiking their proprietary mixture with the same inexpensive USP synthetics. A few companies have even gotten the USDA to somehow certify them as organic based upon the "exceptions" that are now found in USDA organic rules that allow for 5% or more synthetics in a product that uses the word "organic" – believe it or not! They came up with fancy names for freeze drying and for extraction using CO2 in the extraction process. Now they can charge you three times as much for an un-naturally processed product because it sounds so wonderful, but actually their processes can damage delicate enzymes and other naturally occurring elements in the source materials.
They also discovered another way to sell more product: make a man's and woman's formula.
The latest marketing ploy is to make consumers believe that by adding probiotics and a kitchen sink full of the latest "superfoods" the supplements will be even more effective. Who said that this was so? Does nature ever do this with our foods? Let's get real and get back to nature.

I have a vivid imagination, so when I start thinking about taking a supplement that has herbs, algae, probiotics, yeast, USP synthetic vitamins, fillers, and soy, my gag reflex starts to activate. Think about it for a mo
