FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The question of what does it cost to install solar panels needs to be explained. Firstly, we need to establish the types of solar systems people have installed. There are two types of solar panel systems:
a) Solar thermal panels - these use daylight and use glycogen to hot water
b) Solar PV - These use daylight and convert it into electricity.
You need to establish whether you have a south facing roof and that the roof is strong enough to hold solar panels.
The typical cost of solar thermal panels for a 2 panel on roof system is around £6-£6,500. For a PV system, it will depend on the amount of electricity you want to generate. For a typical 2.5kW panel system, the cost is around £6,000 per kW. The government have recently introduced the feed in tariff, which means you are paid for every kW of energy you produce from your solar panels. This has been set at 41.3p per kW which means you can earn around £1,000 for a 2.5kW system. The feed in tariff lasts for around 25 years and the panels will last for 40 years, so on your investment you should be looking at a 10% return.
Wayne Morris of the big green company says that "solar energy is a good way to reduce your carbon footprint and reduce your energy bills". So the cost of installing solar panels is a good way to invest in your home.
